A tender and juicy whole chicken cooked effortlessly in a slow cooker, perfect for busy weeknights or family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 whole chicken (about 3-4 lbs)
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 lemon, halved
  • Fresh herbs (like rosemary or thyme, optional)
  • Vegetables (like carrots, potatoes, and onions, optional)

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken generously with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
  2. Place the lemon halves inside the cavity of the chicken.
  3. If using vegetables, layer them at the bottom of the slow cooker.
  4. Set the seasoned chicken on top of the vegetables.
  5. Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 4-5 hours until the chicken is cooked through and tender.
  6. Let the chicken rest for a few minutes before carving and serving.

Notes

For extra flavor, marinate your chicken overnight in the spices. Always use a meat thermometer to check for doneness.
