BBQ chicken thighs are quick, juicy, and coated in a delicious caramelized sauce. Perfect for weeknight dinners or backyard BBQs.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 ½ lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • ⅓ cup BBQ sauce
  • Non-stick cooking spray
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon table salt
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prep the chicken: Pat the chicken thighs dry and set them aside.
  2. Mix the seasoning: In a small bowl, combine smoked paprika, chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper, table salt, and cayenne, if you like some heat. Mix well.
  3. Season the thighs: Generously sprinkle the spice blend over the chicken and rub it into the meat for maximum flavor.
  4. Optional marinating: If you have the time, place the seasoned chicken in a resealable bag or covered dish with 2-3 tablespoons of BBQ sauce. Toss to coat and let it marinate for 15-30 minutes.
  5. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or aluminum foil. Don’t forget to coat it with non-stick cooking spray!
  6. Bake the chicken: Arrange the chicken thighs in a single layer on the baking sheet. Bake for 15 minutes.
  7. Sauce it up: Remove the chicken from the oven and generously brush the remaining BBQ sauce over each thigh.
  8. Finish baking: Return the chicken to the oven and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) and the sauce is caramelized and sticky.
  9. Rest before serving: Allow the chicken to rest for 5-10 minutes tented with foil to keep it juicy.

Notes

For customization, adjust the spices according to your taste preferences. Use high-quality BBQ sauce for the best flavor.
