Description
A quick and flavorful dish of chicken infused with garlic and brown sugar sauce, perfect for busy weeknights or impressing guests.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 5 cloves garlic, finely minced
- ⅓ cup light brown sugar (packed)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
- ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (for finishing)
- Fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)
Instructions
- Pat the chicken dry with paper towels and season both sides with salt, black pepper, smoked paprika, and onion powder.
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and cook until fragrant but not browned, about 30–45 seconds.
- Stir in brown sugar, soy sauce, and apple cider vinegar, allowing the mixture to bubble until it becomes a smooth sauce.
- Place the chicken in the skillet, cooking for 5–6 minutes on each side while spooning sauce over the top until fully cooked (165°F or 74°C).
- Add unsalted butter to the pan, spooning the sauce over the chicken for an additional 1–2 minutes until rich and glossy.
- Remove from heat, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve with extra sauce drizzled over the top.
Notes
Let the chicken rest at room temperature for 15 minutes before cooking for even results. Sauté garlic until just fragrant to avoid bitterness.
