A delightful comfort food featuring crispy chicken coated in spices and smothered in rich gravy, celebrating the essence of Southern cooking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 chicken breasts
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • Vegetable oil for frying
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika for the chicken coating.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk the eggs and milk together until well combined.
  3. Take each chicken breast, dip it into the egg mixture, and coat it thoroughly with the flour mixture.
  4. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chicken breasts and fry for 7-8 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Remove the chicken and let it rest on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  6. In the same skillet, pour in the chicken broth, scraping up any flavorful bits from the bottom.
  7. Stir in the heavy cream and let it simmer until it thickens into a rich gravy.
  8. Serve the crispy chicken with a generous drizzle of gravy on top.

Notes

For extra crunch, consider double coating the chicken. Adjust spices according to taste, and serve with mashed potatoes or salad.
